Naitional Handbag Day is celebrated on October 10th. Neiman Marcus Somerset Collections had a wonderful handbag event to celebrate the day. A wide assortment of bags from carryalls, backpacks to evening bags were featured.
Handbags which are a staple and at times a statement piece to any outfit be it a cross-body or a full on leather tote. Designers are letting creativity rule over many of the designs that are being shown on and off the runway and in stores.
Designer Yuzefi out of London had a beautiful purple suede bucket bag that was roomy yet not cumbersome. I love when a designer includes multiple ways to carry a bag, be it in your hand, on your arm or shoulder. The Yuzefi bag provided hand straps and a detachable shoulder strap.
One of my favorite handbag designers, Judith Leiber never disappoints. The bling of the swarovski crystals always catch your eye. What the design house creates is always a show stopper from animals to flowers and more.
Designer Miu-Miu showed a variety of bags, including evening bags and a wonderful sparkly tote to carry your everyday essentials around.
Christian Louboutin showed a collection of red bottom bags and evening clutches. As we all know the red bottom is synonymous with the Louboutin brand.
A designer that was new to me, Olympia Le Tan had a fun collection of bags based off of the board game Monopoly. What I found interesting is that each of these creations is numbered as to how many of the bags were created. For instance on the back of the Monopoly bag it shows that only 77 of this particular bag was created.
I saw fresh new designs from Coach. Which has rebranded itself as Tapestry with the other designer brands that it has incorporated into the design house. However, Coach and Coach 1941 designs were whimsical and colorful.
Prada, Valentino, Fendi, Balenciaga and more showed a variety of colorful and fun bags. Choose one or several, and while the bags can be a bit pricey think of it as an investment in yourself.
All bags featured are available at Neiman Marcus Somerset Collection, Troy, Mi.
